Family Resource Coordinator

The Family Resource Coordinator works collaboratively with Social Workers in family intervention to provide an array of supportive and educational services. The families may include children who are abused or neglected, at-risk of maltreatment or adolescents who are out of control, truant or delinquent.
Engages families, assesses needs related to skill training, provides education, demonstrates resource enhancement, and develops a supportive relationship with families. Teaches and provides support through demonstration, modeling, written materials, videos, and parent groups. Establishes connections for families with necessary resources, and uses listening, interviewing, and problem solving techniques. Teaches and monitors financial management skills.
Coordinates with the Social Worker to develop a service plan and assess the achievement of service goals. Teaches home management techniques and monitors client’s progress toward treatment goals. Provides transportation at the direction of the social work staff.
Provides documentation and testimony for juvenile court appearances and regarding reasonable efforts standards for termination of parental rights hearings.
Provides supervised visitation services in the community, clients’ homes, and at the department. Completes unannounced home visits to monitor in home safety plans. Provides safety services for all children and families.
Coordinates and collects drug screens as deemed appropriate by social worker. Provides timely documentation to social workers.
Coordinates, organizes and orders all car seats used by Family Services. Ensures safety of each seat.
Coordinates and organizes Real Baby use. Provides education to family regarding use. Provides timely reports to the family and social workers.
Provides services to clients enrolled in the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program.
Accurately documents all client contacts in Electronic Wisconsin State Automated Child Welfare Information System (eWiSACWIS) and The Clinical Manager (TCM) databases. Accurately documents post-reunification support program and provides timely reports.
Responsible to practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.
OTHER JOB DUTIES
Assists in the facilitation of the kinship care program.
Serves as case manager in limited circumstances.
Supervision and care of children during crisis or specific circumstances. Provides visual observations of juveniles as required (runaways).
Represents the Department in the community through speaking engagements and by participation on boards and committees.
Any other duties as may be assigned.
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social science, sociology, psychology or other related field. One year experience working with children and families in an area related to child abuse, neglect, and/or delinquency preferred. Also required is the ability and proficiency in the use of a ten-key calculator and entering data into a computer terminal, consistent with established department standards. Basic, everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Reading, writing, adding, and subtracting is needed to maintain files and necessary budgeting procedures. Demonstrated ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner, and to work with professional staff as a part of a team. This position requires travel to and from off-campus sites and the transport of clients. Individual may use personal vehicle or other means of reliable transportation. This position may require some night and weekend hours.
Basic office equipment used – calculator, copy machine, computer terminal, FAX machine, and dictation equipment. Ability to demonstrate how housekeeping supplies, cooking utensils, ovens, and food warmers are used.
