Working as part of a healthcare team, you will cook and provide complete and adequate meals and snacks for the residents, guests and families of Edgewater Haven. 

*Responsible for serving all breakfast and lunch meals and set up steam tables, if necessary. Ensure proper temperatures are maintained and taken before each meal of the day. 
*Must puree the necessary foods for serving meals, measuring correctly to make the right consistency specified by the menu for the day.
*Prepare entrees, which may include, roasting, slicing and portioning of meats, following recipes exactly and cooking according to the specified menu for the day. 
*Prepare salads, which may include jello salads and tossed salads, following recipes exactly, measuring accurately for the specified menu of the day. 
*Check cooler for left over foods from previous meals and for frozen food supplies, and refer to modified menu for foods needed for special diets and order accordingly, when necessary. 
*Have knowledge of food substitutions and assume responsibility of handling any crisis situation that may occur, by substitution of another food if something is not delivered, when needed. 
*Responsible to answer any questions asked by Dietary Aides concerning specific menu or diets by supplying these requirements for each modified menu, as required. 
*Wash pots and pans and clean up own work area with a germicidal cleaner on a daily cleaning schedule. All equipment must also be cleaned daily after each use. 
*Check freezer and produce supplies for ordering with other Cooks on a weekly basis and also make out a list as to what needs to be done daily.
*Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner. 

Job Qualifications:

Three to four years of high school or experience equaling a high school education, or in the process of completing high school.  Basic everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to read, write, add, subtract, and spell correctly for writing on diet cards, read recipes, menus, etc.  Ability to follow written and oral directions (understand proper food handling and use of equipment). Some previous kitchen experience is desirable.  Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

Food preparation equipment used: ovens, food warmers, steam table, mixing equipment, meat slicer, measuring cups, spoons, scoops and ladles.
