CURRENT OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN OUR TEAM:
The Wood County Human Services Department, Family Services Division, has an immediate opening for a Family Resource Coordinator.
One of the primary purposes of this position is to engage parents and families by working collaboratively with Social Workers in family intervention to provide an array of supportive and educational services. The families may have children who are abused or neglected, at-risk of maltreatment or adolescents who are out of control, truant, or delinquent. As a result of these services, parents are expected to increase parenting capacities, family communication skills, and family activity levels based on children's ages and interests. The work is performed under the immediate direction of the HOME Team Supervisor with additional oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
-Engage families, assess needs related to skill training, provide education, demonstrate resource enhancement, and develop a supportive relationship with families
-Through planned, structured parent-child activities, teach parents/guardians strategies and techniques they can take home with them.
-Facilitates family interaction between parents and child(ren) in monitored or supervised settings including family homes, community settings, and the office. Provides supportive coaching and feedback to family members to enhance the quality of the contact and safety of the child.
-Complete unannounced home visits to monitor in home safety plans. Provides safety services for all children and families.
-Immediately report back any safety concerns to direct supervisor as well as the assigned social worker.
-Coordinates and collects drug screens as deemed appropriate by social worker.
-Provide services in an office setting, in a community setting, or in a biological, guardian, or foster family's home, as appropriate.
-Use listening, interviewing, and problem solving techniques to accomplish the foregoing.
-Coordinates, organizes and orders all car seats used by Family Services. Ensures safety of each seat.
-Accurately documents all client contacts in Electronic Wisconsin State Automated Child Welfare Information System (eWiSACWIS). Documentation must clearly communicate a parent’s increase in protective capacities or lack of progress in improving parenting abilities. Submission of case notes the next business day if safety concerns arose during a visit or weekly if no safety concerns arose. Provides timely documentation to social workers consistent with expectations set forth by agency policy.
-Responsible to practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.
-Provides transportation at supervisor direction.
-This position will require availability on weekdays to include evening hours, as well as weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
-May assist or provide back up to the Foster Care/Kinship Coordinator in the facilitation of the foster care/kinship program.
-Supervision and care of children during crisis or specific circumstances. Provides visual observations of juveniles as required (runaways).
-Any other duties as may be assigned.
No supervisory responsibility.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social science, sociology, psychology or other related field. Three years of experience working with children and families in an area related to child abuse, neglect, and/or delinquency preferred. Also required is the ability and proficiency in the use of a ten-key calculator and entering data into a computer terminal, consistent with established Department standards. Basic, everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions. Reading, writing, adding, and subtracting is needed to maintain files and necessary budgeting procedures. Demonstrated ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner, and to work with professional staff as a part of a team. This position requires travel to and from off-campus sites and the transport of clients. Individual may use personal vehicle or other means of reliable transportation.
Basic office equipment used – calculator, copy machine, computer terminal, FAX machine, and dictation equipment. Ability to demonstrate how housekeeping supplies, cooking utensils, ovens, and food warmers are used.
