CURRENT OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN OUR TEAM:
The Wood County Human Services Department, has an immediate opening for an Accountant. This position is to assure all components of Norwood Health Center’s financial and related administrative functions are completed in a timely and accurate fashion.  

SUPERVISES
No supervisory responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Complete various monthly and yearly reports to conform to State and Local governments reporting requirements.
2. Compile data and complete work papers necessary to prepare Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
3. Assist in completing annual budget work papers and entry to budget document.
4. Prepare annual audit work papers for Norwood Health Center.
5. Participate in annual county audit for facility.
6. Complete financial intakes for Admissions unit as needed.
7. Receipt checks as received. Prepare weekly and month end bank deposits.
8. Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly.
9. Submit Supplemental Payment Applications as required.
10. Prepare year-end entries and reconciliations.
11. Prepare and enter monthly journal entries.
12. Maintain asset lists and related information.
13. Maintain the departmental general ledger. Monitor for errors.
14. Create, analyze, maintain and distribute financial reporting documents as scheduled or requestd to appropriate internal and/or external customers.
15. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.

OTHER JOB DUTIES
1. Provide support and back up for switchboard, payroll, resident accounts, discharges, etc. as needed.
2. Assist with walk-ins. 
3. Maintain the Volunteer Fund.
4. Assist in preparing and distributing policies, reports, and procedures related to financial functions for Norwood Health Center.
5. Obtain necessary financial and other relevant information from staff, patients and residents in accordance with various rules and regulations.
6. Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance endeavors, particularly in relation to State and Federal regulations (Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Department of Health and Family Services and Bureau of Quality Assurance).
7. Obtain and maintain billing information on all patients and residents so that accurate monthly reports are generated.
8. Assist with special projects.
9. Any other duties, as may be assigned.
 
Job Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in Accounting or Business related studies required.  A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years accounting experience desired, preferably in a long-term health care setting. Must be familiar with various accounting transactions and understand office procedures. Must be proficient in the use of a calculator, computers, and Microsoft Excel. Must have the ability to learn and utilize in-house computer programs and any upgrades. Must be able to make day-to-day decisions within the limits of established policies and procedures. Accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent organizational skills are also required. Basic everyday living skills are needed, as is the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions, and to communicate effectively, verbally. The ability to read, write, add, and subtract are necessary and needed for performing the essential functions of this position. Experience in a mental health, developmental disabilities, alcohol and drug or related facility and/or program preferred.
