To assist supervisory and skilled food service personnel in the preparation and serving of food for residents, as well as perform a variety of cleaning related duties.
Responsible for safe and sanitary handling of food, equipment and supplies in the kitchen area.
Responsible for following the modified menu when preparing/portioning foods and serving on the tray line.
Prepare portions of salads and desserts, as well as butter the bread and rolls and place in bags.
Set up supplement and extras for each meal.
Prepare between-meal snack.
Assist cooks in preparing simpler foods for cooking or service, such as vegetables, fruits, and sandwiches.
Prepare dining room for meals.
Assist setting up the tray line area.
Assist with serving residents’ trays at meal time and adhere to mealtime schedule.
Heat special items in microwave oven.
Clean up work area, as well as clear and wipe off dining room tables and trays after each meal.
Operate the dishwashing machine to insure thorough cleaning of dishware and utensils.
Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the County. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed manner.
High School diploma or GED education preferred. Preferences will be given to those with food service experience. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, safety precautions and the use of chemicals and proper sanitation. Able to clean and operate food preparation equipment correctly. Must acquire knowledge of special diets served and serving instructions. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work under pressure and with time constraints. Accuracy is essential in all aspects of job responsibilities. Ability to work cooperatively with others, must be mentally alert, accurate in measurements and have sufficient dexterity to handle food and equipment efficiently and safely.
