CURRENT OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN OUR TEAM:
The Wood County Human Services Department, Family Services Division, has an immediate opening for a Supervisor Position. This position is responsible for the oversight of the HOME Team which provides support to differing areas of social work from the Access/Initial Assessment through the ongoing social work in the area of Child Protective Services by, in part, providing assistance in engaging parents/caregivers through collaboration with services providers and other family focused efforts. This position further provides oversight of a team which coordinates the County’s foster care and kinship care programs. The position will be a full-time (1.0 FTE) position. In some instances the position may provide back-up supervision for other units within the Family Services Division and may be responsible for assisting with the intake and screening process. This position must ensure compliance with program objectives and applicable standards, mandates, rules, regulations, and statutory authority. The work is performed under the immediate direction of the Family Services Division Administrator with additional oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this classification. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
-Supervises Family Resource Coordinators or other like termed position, Foster Care Coordinators, Foster Care and Kinship Coordinator, and Family Interaction Workers. Conducts supervisory conferences and provides consultation to staff. Supervises team personnel and approves actions in consideration of the case plan as determined in collaboration with the assigned social worker and supervisory staff. Assigns cases, tasks and projects based on client needs and staff knowledge and capabilities. Reviews cases, client records, and reports for progress and compliance with applicable laws, standards, rules and regulations. Motivates staff to do their very best in meeting the needs of those they serve.
-Supports staff in their work to provide quality services, mentoring, and coaching to families with the goal being to enhance positive outcomes and maximize the amount of services provided in the home.
-Assists the Family Services Division in Human Services Department operations, including budgeting and general administration as directed. Assists the Family Services Division in planning for change in procedures and new programs. Develops and monitors budget activity and department contracts with vendors. Assists Family Services Division in determining staffing levels and other division operations.
-Works with the Family Services Division in all Human Resourced functions including hiring, development, discipline and termination of staff. Completes annual performance reviews on each employee and determines in conjunction with staff their needs for continued professional growth. Plans, coordinates, conducts and evaluates staff training. Approves vacation, sick leave, compensatory and flex time requests.
-Assess and determines which intake referrals are to be assigned to appropriate staff in consultation with other Family Services supervisory staff. Provides input upon request to determine the appropriate time to close a case.
-Oversees assigned program/programs. Prepares annual plans and regular reports, develops policies and procedures, interprets state and county mandated program changes, updates program manuals, and represents the program/programs to department management and county officials.
-Prepares presentations and/or conducts meetings for department staff, county government, civic groups, and other meetings as needed to develop education/advocacy policies/procedures.
-Initiates and oversees unit data collections. Interprets data and coordinates with Administrative Services Division Manager and Information Technology in the development of computer programs for service program analysis and on-going policy decisions.
-Investigates and responds to client and community complaints and inquiries at supervisor direction. Keeps the Family Services Division Administrator apprised of all complaints.
-Participates in continuing professional training. Develops and maintains department standards and ensures practice standards in compliance with state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and professional ethics.
-Coordinates programs with other agencies, community resources, and services to fulfill client needs.
-Supports the Mission, Vision and Value Statements of the department and works toward stated goals.
-Provides services utilizing a trauma informed care approach.
-Adapts well to change and works to instill a positive work culture that supports staff development.
-Has a strong desire to continually engage employees in strength based family systems case management practices.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this classification and may also be performed by other unit members.
-Represents the department and programs on local, regional and statewide committees.
-Assists Human Services auditors and retrieves requested material and information.
-This position may require travel to and from off-campus sites. Individual may use personal vehicle or other means of reliable transportation.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services or closely related field required. Three years of experience in a Human Services or closely related field preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
